The story seems a bit like something out of Ocean’s Eleven- Obama’s Nobel Prize-winning energy secretary, Steven Chu, brought together a diverse team of five elite scientists to create plans to stop the BP oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. One of these scientists is Jonathan I. Katz, Professor of Physics at Washington University in Saint Louis. I’m proud to see my university getting some press because it is not very well-known outside of the science world. Also, I am happy to see Obama utilizing real scientists outside of the bureaucratic process to help solve this environmental disaster. I imagine that this team will have a large part in permanently stopping this oil leak after BP’s pattern of failures.
