Jon Stewart Shakes Up The O’Reilly Factor

Yesterday Jon Stewart participated in an interview on a show that is quite the antithesis of his own- The O'Reilly Factor. Yet again, Bill O'Reilly treated Jon with overtones of condescension while belittling the journalistic merit, audience and influence of The Daily Show. Throughout the interview, Jon exuded a passive disappointment while still trying to treat O'Reilly with respect. Meanwhile, O'Reilly spewed the rubbish that has come to characterize his network. His anecdotal evidence sets up loose arguments without concreteness, and his own ignorance shines as he claims to be a more influential journalist. However, his belief of superiority falls when analyzing overall influence of the Daily Show- I would venture to guess that Jon Stewart clips on Youtube have more views than a month of O'Reilly's show. In the end, my conclusion is that O'Reilly's show is not the "no-spin zone." Rather, it is like a gyroscope- it spins wildly, and any attempt to change that spin causes it to precess angrily.

Below is the interview from February 3, split into two clips.
