This weekend I set up a blog for my mother, entitled Helen’s Helpful Hints. The blog will focus on her interests and experiences as a mother and entrepreneur. I will occasionally be contributing a guest column there to help small businesses with technology. My first post just went online, entitled Safely Disposing of an Old Computer. Read the article to learn about how to safely erase data before selling or trashing an old computer.

You did an incredible job with the layout. I work in Wordpress daily, and that’s one of the best layouts I’ve seen.
Only thing I’d suggest is pulling the admin area from the public links. It can be easily bookmarked, and truth be told, anyone who knows Wordpress knows the default links, but not having the link in public is just one less invitation for trouble!
Thanks, Daniel! She originally told me that she had considered starting a magazine, but I talked her into a Wordpress blog with a magazine layout. An idea became reality! I enjoyed setting it up, and I also really like the theme. I’ll add correcting the admin link to my to-do list for the next couple days.
My next project is redoing my parents’ business website, http://hitcg.com . I’m not sure what platform to use for it. I’ve considered exploring Drupal, but I hear that it has a learning curve. Do you have any suggestions?
