Balloon Boy: Physically Impossible

In class today, my physics professor told us that, as soon as he saw the Balloon Boy brouhaha, he did some estimations and a quick calculation and determined that the balloon could have not lifted the boy in question. Interestingly enough, CNN now reports that, in fact, the balloon did not have the buoyancy required to lift the boy. Oh, if only our society valued science above hype!
